A Quality Improvement Case Study on Preparing Healthcare Accreditation System at Dental Hospital

Abstract

|
Objective: The Korean Healthcare Accreditation System began to evaluate quality and safety in healthcare organizations. Although, Healthcare Accreditation System has not been performed yet in dental hospital, the preparation and research are needed for accreditation system. To help understanding of staff and to support accreditationevaluation, leaflets was
produced and distributed that contains the information about accreditation assessment items that staff should be aware of.
Methods: Firstly, we investigated and collected regulations and guidelines that required by each department on the basis of a booklet of three general hospital and guideline published in the Korea Institute for Healthcare Accreditation. And then, we provided the leaflet to each department that were produced based on collected regulations and guidelines. The survey was conducted to 50 employees by Likert scale for compare the before and after leaflet distributed.
Results: After leaflet was distributed, understanding for Accreditation System and degree of understanding about the questions was significantly increased than before that.
Conclusions: We suggested that leaflet was the ideal tool to improve awareness and understanding in order to the preparing of Dentalinstitutions Accreditation System.
